But how does the traffic light work? Strictly speaking, it is not controlled by artificial intelligence, according to Christoph Holz, one of Europe's leading AI experts.

"The first thing the traffic light does is look: What's the granny? And makes a little rectangle around it. What is a truck? Makes a big rectangle. And once it learns that, of course, it has to remember that. And then there's not much in play with AI. AI in learning and in executing, it's a reliable algorithm."
